Formthotics are thermo-formable 3D milled medical orthoses that adapt to your unique foot shape and footwear.

In simple English, these are very comfortable insoles with plug-and-play accessories that can be customised to your feet. And that’s good news for folks with conditions like Flat Feet, Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Callouses, or Diabetic Feet.

It all started over 30 years ago in New Zealand… a time when all insoles were custom made and very expensive. A sports medicine doctor and professional skier met up and discovered their shared goal: to create affordable, comfortable, and supportive insoles that help people with foot problems. They started experimenting with heat-moldable foam – and the rest is history.

How are Formthotics different?

Although the first few Formthotics insoles were made from a bootstrapped farmhouse kitchen, the Formthotics that you get today are made by a unique high tech method called 3D Milling. Each Formthotics product is ‘carved’ a.k.a 3D milled from a block of proprietary closed-cell foam called Formax™ – additionally infused with an antimicrobial agent called Ultrafresh™. Which we think is pretty cool!

When combined, the unique manufacturing process allows Formthotics products to maintain a consistency that allows for proper anatomical support and moulding. They are hypoallergenic, waterproof, and difficult for bacteria or fungi to grow on. Very handy for Singapore’s humid weather, and people with Diabetic Feet who can’t afford to catch any nasty foot infections.

Looks familiar? Yep – it’s the same Formthotics you might get from a Podiatrist in Singapore’s hospitals and polyclinics.

For good reason: Formthotics insoles and its family of accessories are designed and manufactured in New Zealand to meet high medical standards around the world. In three decades, it’s become a proven brand name trusted by podiatrists, orthopaedic specialists, sports science folks (like physiotherapists – we haven’t forgotten you guys!), and their patients with lower limb conditions.

Thanks to the Formthotics Medical System – healthcare professionals are able to quickly and inexpensively assemble customised insoles for their patients. They’re affordable, diabetic-friendly, and made with high-quality shock-absorption for people who need the extra cushioning.

When you get a pair of Formthotics insoles, you’re essentially investing in quality orthotics that your Podiatrist or Orthotist can improve to better suit your feet.

While Footkaki is known for our affordable prices – we must honestly let you know that we can’t beat the heavily subsidised prices that you’d pay for Formthotics prescribed by a government polyclinic or hospital. If you’re on a tight budget, our advice is to ask a polyclinic GP for a referral to see a Podiatrist in Singapore’s healthcare system.

But if you don’t want to wait (or aren’t covered by health subsidies), you can always pay us a visit. Owen our Pedorthist has picked a little something for everyone: insoles (for adults and kids), metatarsal pads, heel lifts to make you look taller (while alleviating rearfoot pressure) etc etc. To get the most out of Formthotics, we recommend giving our professional foot assessment and fitting service a try – it’s free!
